Rigging (Intermediate)

Being an Intermediate Rigger means that your duties will include all those of a Basic Rigger and rigging work such as the following:
- Rigging of cranes, conveyors, dredges, and excavators
- Multiple crane lifts
- Tilt Slab construction
- All hoists and mast climbers
Course Requirements
- You must be 18 years of age or over
- Hold a Basic Riggers licence to Perform High Risk Work, or a valid certificate of competency
- Photo ID e.g. drivers licence, passport
- Blue/White induction card
- Ability to understand read and write English
- Physical work working at heights
- Basic knowledge of mathematics to work out formulas
Theory Component
- Requirements for certification
- Application of Australian and National Standards in relation to modules and units of competency: AS1891, AS2626
- Personal and general safety
- Tilt Up panels/slabs
- Selection and use of mobile cranes: AS2550
- OS & H legislation (responsibilities of employers and employees)
- Act and Regulations
- Code of practice (prevention of falls from heights)
- Erection of all hoists
- Multi-Crane lifts
- Demolition
Practical Component
- Plan and prepare work on site
- Conduct inspections of boom or tower sections and all rigging equipment/gear before and after use, repairing if necessary
- Prepare site for rigging work
- Coordinate load movements with appropriate communication and signal methods given verbally, by whistle, two-way radio/telephone, light signals or hand signals, in and out of view of the crane/hoist operator
- Identify workplace hazards and the application of appropriate hazard control measures.
- Move loads
- Place and secure loads ensuring stability
- Dismantle and remove boom or tower sections (reverse procedure using 26T Pin Jib Crane)

Certification
- Upon successful completion of the course participants will recieve a Statment of Attainment indicating the Nationally recognised unit of competency UEPOPS213A - Perform Intermediate Rigging Work
- Notice of Assessment issued by the Worksafe Trainer/Assessor
- Licence To Perform High risk Work Licence for class (RI) Intermediate Rigging: Once a copy of your statement of Attainment, Notice of Assessment and Licencing application form have been submitted to worksafe with the required application fee
The listed course price does not cover the Worksafe Application Fee: $79. (Worksafe applications are compulsory for all Worksafe accredited courses/high risk courses)
Candidates may choose to apply for Worksafe certification on their own or do it through DTE.
The DTE Worksafe Application charge includes:
Worksafe Application Fee: $79
DTE Admin fee: $14
Total: $93 INC GST P/PERSON
NOTE: Worksafe applications are compulsory on Worksafe accredited courses. If you want DTE to handle your Worksafe Application, please account for the charge of $93 per person. If you are raising a Purchase Order for any of the High Risk courses, please remember to include the DTE Worksafe Application charge in it.
