Basic Worksite Traffic Management and Traffic Control (Combined refresher)

Pre-requisites
- Read and write the English language. Participants must have good vision
and hearing and be able to lift, bend etc. - Must provide current or previous evidence of holding a valid driver’s
license (learner’s permit acceptable). - Must hold & provide evidence of a valid Worksafe WA Construction
Safety Awareness card (blue/white card).
A valid ticket in Basic Worksite Traffic Management is also required where Traffic Controllers are responsible for installing & maintaining associated signing & devices eg. temporary speed limit signs, prepare to stop signs etc. driver's license
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to detail, utilise and apply the basic principals,rules, procedures, signs and devices used to provide appropriate basic workplace traffic management.
This training will enable participants to set up, monitor and pack worksite traffic management sites in accordance with approved Traffic Management Plan (TMP).
Participants will be able to safely control traffic with a stop/slow bat in accordance with Main Roads WA requirements and meet outcomes of naturally recognized unit of competency.
Participants will be required to operate a stop/slow bat and two‐way radios in accordance with Main Roads WA procedures and unit of competency specifications.
Course Recognition
Worksite Traffic Controller Certificate (MRWA) which is valid for 3 years. This course meets RIIOHS302A Implement Traffic Management Plan (statement of attainment) nationally recognised standard. This course meets RIIOHS205A Control traffic with Stop/Slow Bat (statement of attainment) nationally recognised standard.
Course Notes
Participants are to wear long leg pants, long sleeve shirt, steel cap boots, hat or wet weather gear (whichever appropriate).
Assessment is by written/oral test, the simulation of a number of traffic management tasks and a number of practical traffic control tasks.
